I went through a massive Gunne Sax dress phase (for those not in the know, Gunne Sax = 70s prairie revival. Lace, high collars, floor length skirts, puffed sleeves) which I attribute, in part, to this movie:
Mysterious happenings! Hysterical girls! White gauzy gorgeousness!

All movie stills from Peter Weir's Picnic at Hanging Rock

Slow, super weird, ultra dreamy, and one of two movies my cat can’t get enough of (the other? Walkabout. Also Australian. And based on a book. And made in the 70s. Coincidence?!).

Did you see the whole movie? Where do you find this stuff?
I love it
yes, of course!
many, many times. nicole, hello, i’ll be your source for bizarro movie, music, TV & book recommendations! look to me.
the girl. the boy. the school. the rock. The gunne sax dresses. (I had a blue one…that I wore with Doc Marten -esque boots… a lot)
i know i know, it’s too much! “the girl. the boy. the school. the rock.” adore it.
and pictures, please. you in your gunne sax w/ the boots. must see.
